Homo Ludens. Mensch und Spiel approaches a fundamental phenomenon of human life and asks a simple question: why do people play.

The film examines play from different perspectives. Psychological, anthropological, and cultural approaches meet a philosophical view of play as an expression of human action. It becomes clear that play is far more than mere pastime.

Observing both individual and collective forms of play, the film explores the motivations behind them. What inner processes, tensions, and projections are revealed through play. And what does this desire to play tell us about our present time.
