Poster for A Circle of Friends. View across the water towards Vienna’s Seestadt Aspern district, with modern residential buildings in the background. The documentary follows the residents of the Caritas shared housing community Melange and explores the experience of growing older together.

In the Melange shared housing community in Vienna’s Seestadt district, older people live together under one roof. They share their daily routines, their stories, and the small rituals that transform neighbours into friends.

The film follows residents of a living arrangement that refuses to accept loneliness as an inevitable part of ageing. Through shared meals, conversations and everyday encounters, a multifaceted portrait of community, care and solidarity emerges.

A Circle of Friends is a film about growing older in a society that often remains focused on youth. It is a story about people supporting one another, about the importance of social connections, and about the question of how we want to live in the future.
