Not Young. Not Silent.
More than one million women in Austria are over the age of sixty. And yet they barely appear in the public sphere. While men of the same age remain visibly present, women all too often fade to the margins of perception.
The film encounters women between sixty and eighty four, listens to their voices, follows their experiences, doubts and acts of resistance. In a society that elevates youth to an ideal, ageing becomes an invisible burden for many women.
What does it mean to grow older within a system that ties female presence to youth? The film reveals that disappearing from public view is not an individual fate, but the result of structural mechanisms, and brings visibility to those who have long been overlooked.
